Ormsby Vacation Home in South Lake Tahoe

The Ormsby house has the feeling of a cabin in the woods. There is a large fireplace in the downstairs living room and a wood burning stove in the upstairs living room. I provide wood for the guests too. Even though this home has a cabiny feel, it has all the amenities you need in a vacation home along with many upgrades. When I go up to Tahoe with my friends and family, I usually choose this home since it has so many bedrooms and lots of games and amenities.

Handicap Access

This home is fairly accessible for those with limited mobility since there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the main level. The main entrance has 2 steps to enter the home. Once you are on the main level, there is a living room, TV, kitchen, dining area, BBQ, and 55 foot deck with amazing views.

Layout

You walk in the front door and straight ahead is the large living room with lots of comfy couches, table seating for 6 and a TV with DirecTV, DVD player. Next to the TV is a wood burning stove and we provide the wood. It is very rare to find homes in Tahoe with real wood burning stoves and fireplaces since a rule came out over 6 years ago that fireplaces must be removed when a home is sold. I bought this house before that rule so I am able to keep the wood stove and fireplace. There are large double paned windows facing the mountain and meadows in this room. The sliding glass door leads you out to the large 55 foot deck with picnic table seating for 18 and a high quality BBQ. The views of the mountains and meadow are amazing and you can see coyotes, birds, chipmunks and sometimes a beaver running around.

On the right side of the deck is a door that leads into the master suite with a queen bed, seating, and ensuite bathroom. You can also enter this private master suite through the garage. Off of the upstairs living room is a hallway which leads you to a bathroom with a shower/tub on the left, a queen bedroom on the right, a king bedroom on the right and then a second master bedroom on the left with a king bed, TV, DirecTV service, and a private bathroom with shower.

Off of the upstairs living room is the open kitchen and dining seating for 12. The kitchen was recently remodeled with granite counter-tops, stainless steel appliances and new sink. Continue through the kitchen and walk down the stairs to the lower level. You will enter the billiards room with a large pool table. On the right are three bedrooms with queen beds. After you pass the billiards room, there is a large bathroom on the left with a shower. Continue down the hallway and you will enter the great room with a large TV with DirecTV, DVD player, DVD library, wet bar, bar stools, shuffleboard table, large cozy fireplace and I provide the wood.

Pass this room and you will enter the sunroom. There is a foosball table, ping pong table, couches and great views. To the right is a large bedroom with 2 full beds. There is a sliding glass door that leads outside to the hot tub. This hot tub was recently purchased and has lots of jets. Around the corner from the hot tub is the wood room. The driveway can fit 4 cars and 2 cars can fit in the garage. In the garage is a storage room for skis, boards, poles, boots, etc.

Viewings/Showings

I love when guests are able to stop by and view the home. I live in San Francisco but I drive up to Tahoe once a week to bring supplies, fix things, monitor construction projects in the home, etc. You can call me on my cell phone and arrange a time to view the home. I am only able to give tours when the homes are empty as I am sure you would not want guests viewing the home when you are occupying the house.

Snow Removal

I have a company that plows the driveway when there is more than 5 inches of snow. Remember to bring chains when traveling in the Sierras and bring extra food and water in your car.

2. The front yard. This home does not have great curb appeal. I have spent over $150,000 over the past few years on improving the interior instead of the front of the house. Since there are many water restrictions in Lake Tahoe, I have been reluctant to put a green lawn so the front yard is natural.

1. The large fireplace and wood burning stove. A few years ago, fireplaces and wood burning stoves were banned for new construction. But I purchased this home before these laws so I can still have the fireplace. I provide wood for guests also on the side of the house.

2. The view & deck. This home has a large 55 foot deck with amazing views of the meadow, mountains, and Trout Creek.
